Team The project team consists
of a balanced mix of academic, industry and
petroleum company personnel. Many of the project
members with key management or technical roles
are recognized pioneers in the relevant technical
areas of importance to this project.
The team consists of people from:
- The Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT). The
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
will carry out the fundamental research
in the rock mechanics required for
improved discrete fracture modeling of
oil reservoirs.
- Marathon Oil
Company (MOC), a major producer of
oil from fracture-dominated reservoirs in
the United States. Marathon will donate
personnel, provide a significant amount
of data as well as collect additional
data from the Yates Field in West Texas
for this project.
- Golder
Associates Inc. (GAI), which has
originated a comprehensive fracture-flow
simulation code, FracMan, and
successfully carried out wide-ranging and
multi-disciplinary fracture flow projects
worldwide. Golder Associates will serve
as Prime Contractor for this project, and
will have the responsibility for
developing the tectonic and geological
reservoir models and interfaces to
reservoir simulation codes.
