Scope of Work: Task 1.1 Collection of Fractured Reservoir Site Characterization Data

Marathon Oil Company will provide fracture and production data from the Yates Field fractured reservoir. The existing data to be donated to the project is drawn from a database of core analysis, geophysical logs, structural analyses, performance histories, lineament maps, production data related to TAGS, well adjustment and response monitoring. Task 1.1 will consist of assembling and processing all of this data into a form useful for both the proposed laboratory work and for later tasks.

Task 1.1.1 Initial Data Warehouse

In this task, Marathon will assemble, organize and deliver site characterization to form the basis for the site characterization database. The database structure, organization, and access procedures will be developed.

Task 1.1.2 Data Updates

Incremental site characterization data updates will be provided by Marathon on a quarterly basis, and will be integrated into the site characterization database. The database and access procedures will be updated as necessary.

Discussion:

Marathon Oil Company will provide fracture and production data for both Task 1 and subsequent Tasks. The existing data to be donated to the project is drawn from a database of:

  • Over 20,000 ft. of core analysis data from the formation and the surrounding project area. This core is available for the laboratory testing proposed.
  • Electric log data for over 1,500 wells in an organized digital database accessible either numerically or in 3D color computer workstation images
  • FMS/FMI from numerous vertical and one horizontal well
  • Structural deformation/curvature maps for key reservoir horizons
  • Horizontal and vertical well performance histories, including injection- production interference behavior. The significant changes in fluid handling and types of fluids injected provide performance data analogous to tracer tests.
  • Lineament maps

Additional production data collected during the field trials of the TAGS process will also be made available to the project as outlined in Task 4.1. This includes:

  • updated pressure, performance, and fluid contact data, including temperature observation data if/when heat injection is initiated;
  • additional fracture imaging logs as opportunities are presented;
  • additional fluid injection/production logs as opportunities are presented;
  • well adjustment and response monitoring with potential inclusion of tracer materials if injected fluids are inadequate for determining communication (gas/gas composition and water);
  • 3D matrix characterization data extracted from StrataModel;, and
  • simulation data using a dual-porosity, dual permeability three-phase simulator and a single thermal phase performance simulation (thermal compositional dual-porosity dual-permeability THERM-DK code).

Task 1.1 will consist of assembling and processing all of this data into a form useful for both the proposed laboratory work and for later tasks. Core specimens will be selected and prepared for the laboratory studies conducted in Tasks 1.2 and 1.3
