1. QUARTERLY PROGRESS OVERVIEW
1.1 Overview of Progress
1.2 Project Deliverables
1.3 Issues and Resolutions
This quarterly progress report describes activities during the period June 1, 1997 to August 31, 1997. Work was carried out on 11 tasks. The major activities in the quarter were in research related to implementation and testing of the hierarchical fracture model, development of interfaces between DFN and conventional reservoir simulators, and implementation of the Windows 95 data analysis system. Major efforts were also made for technology transfer, including updates to the project WWW site and conference presentations.
During the quarter, Bill Dershowitz attended the DOE Reservoir Characterization Research Conference in Houston, Texas, to present the paper, "Fractured Reservoir Discrete Feature Network Technologies." In addition, Bill Dershowitz, Tom Doe, and Paul LaPointe attended the US Rock Mechanics Symposium in New York, New York, to present the papers, "Flow Compartmentalization and Effective Permeability in 3D Fractal Fracture Networks", and `Analysis of Heterogeneously Connected Rock Masses by Forward Modeling of Fractional Dimension Flow Behavior."
