
This report describes research carried out to develop advanced technologies for analysis of fractured reservoir data in support of the use of discrete feature network (DFN) approaches for reservoir engineering. Four technologies are described (Figure 1-1):
These technologies are built upon the common foundation of the discrete feature network approach (Dershowitz et al, 1992). This report describes the theoretical development of the algorithms, and provides instructions for their use.
The research report is organized as follows. Chapter 2 presents the common theoretical background for the new reservoir data analysis technologies. Chapters 3, 4, 5, and 6 provide details about the analysis approaches and implementation for fracture orientation, location, flow dimension, and hydraulic parameter analysis. Conclusions are provided in Chapter 7.
